The rapping flight attendant has become a sensation on You Tube. Southwest flight attendant David Holmes noticed that jaded passengers were tuning out the safety instructions when they were delivered in the usual way.

People perked up in their seats when he decided to deliver the instructions as a rap. Now, Holmes rocks his flights by getting passengers clapping to the beat. “The first time I did it, it was just a fun thing to do,” said Holmes. “I like to have fun at work,” claimed the Dallas TX based Southwest flight crew member.

People response was overwhelmingly positive, as it usually is when service is given in a unique and memorable way. According to report by Central Florida News Chanel 13, Holmes claims that passengers exiting the plane told him that it was the first time they had listened to the flight instructions.

“Delivering service in a memorable way is one of the keys to winning and keeping customers,” said DFW small business consultant Ron Sturgeon. Sturgeon, a successful entrepreneur with a 30-year track, has recently started a program to offer peer benchmarking review groups to small business owners.

“The beauty of the group was that we could share our key operating metrics and learn from the members who excelled at getting results for a particular metric,” said Sturgeon. The information sharing produced measurable bottom line results and immediately actionable techniques to expand business.

“I gave away some ideas to other group members, but I never left the sessions without four of five action items to immediately implement,” said Sturgeon. Testimony to the value of peer benchmarking review groups: No one left the group in the ten years that it existed.
