Well, the folks at Campagna Motors obviously did not get this message.  The small Canadian company has decided to take an economy-be-damned approach to the release of their new motorcycle inspired vehicle, the T-Rex.

It’s a little confusing whether the T-Rex is intended to get exotic car fans interested in motorcycles, or motorcycle fans interested in exotic cars.  Regardless everyone will find the T-Rex interesting.

Whether or not, amid massive layoffs and plummeting stock prices, people will be willing to shell out $50,000 for the T-Rex remains to be seen.  But if they do, here’s what they’ll get.

The T-Rex offers a 1400cc Kawasaki motorcycle engine that produces 200 hp.  The frame sports two wheels in the front and one in the rear creating greater stability than a bike, but with the light weight that allows bikes their fabulous acceleration, 0-60 in about 3.92 seconds in this case.  Additionally, the three-wheeled design allows for a second passenger seat next to the driver.

“There’s always been a mutual respect between sports car and motorcycle lovers.  Naturally, there’s a lot of overlap between the two,” states Tom Warren, GM of a Dallas TX supercar driving experience company.

“The new vehicles from Campagna are going to do a lot to shrink the gap between the two [motorcycle and car lovers],” Warren continued. “It will be interesting to see what kind of reception they get in this market,” says Warren.

The T-Rex certainly looks like it would be a blast to pilot and with motorcycle and car sharing clubs and rental agencies, it jut might be possible to put yourself at the controls without laying out the 50K.

Auto enthusiasts have discovered exotic car sharing in DFW courtesy of the dfw elite car club (www.dfwelitecarclub.com).  With memberships starting at just $750 per month, the car sharing club offers those with a need for speed a chance to pick from a stable of nearly two dozen exotic cars. They even have a 2009 Audi R8 in the paddock!
