MAX MOTORS GAS OR GUN PROMO GETS BUTLER, MO CAR DEALER SOME MEDIA ATTENTION
When most people think of car safety things like airbags, antilock brakes, and steel-caged frames often come to mind. Well, the good folks down at Max Motors have something a little different in mind.
Max Motors (or,perhaps more appropriately “Mad” Max Motors) is offering car buyers a $250 credit towards their choice of gasoline or a gun. Which only makes sense because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on a car lot and told the salesperson that everything looks great, but if he could throw in a handgun, I would sign today.
All kidding aside, Walter Moore, the General Manager of the Butler, Missouri, dealership stated that most car buyers have opted for the gun and not the gas. Moore deflects the notion that Max Motor’s offer may offend some locals by stating, “Down here, we all believe in God, guts and guns.”
I’ll take it on faith that he knows his local market.
“Sometimes it takes a promotion that is a little bit daring to get attention,” said Ron Sturgeon, the owner of a company that gives car enthusiasts the chance to rent a Lamborghini or a slew of other luxury or exotic cars in Fort Worth Texas.
“I believe their promo is different enough that it could break through the clutter and get their dealership a little extra attention and if their customers perceive the incentive as adding value it may help them close an extra sale or two,” says Mr. Sturgeon.
For those in and around Butler, MO, interested in buying a car, the promotion only runs until May 31.
“So far the promo has landed them a spot on MSNBC, so people are talking and could translate into good things for an innovative local car dealer,” said Mr. Sturgeon, a small business consultant.
