Halloween in Dallas: Six Great Ways to Get in the Spirit
Halloween is a great holiday in Dallas. You get to dress up, eat candy, and hand out candy to kids. But this year, why not add some extra fun to your usual Halloween celebrations? Instead of simply celebrating Halloween with a great costume and trick-or-treating, try out some of these fun ideas, including great haunted houses and exotic car rental!
- Head out to the Dallas ScareGrounds!
This year is the 13th year that Dallas ScareGrounds has been operating its haunted houses. There are three haunted house experiences this year: the Necrotorium, the Terrortorium, and the Hallucinatorium. There’s also a festival going on that includes games and entertainments, as well as tasty snacks.
- Explore the Cutting Edge Haunted House!
Considered one of the best haunted houses in the country, the Cutting Edge Haunted House is located in Fort Worth. The Denton Record Chronicle called this haunted house “The longest adrenaline rush money can buy.” We think a Drive Your Dream tour holds that honor, but this place sounds like a great time.

- Visit the Slaughterhouse!
Even though this Halloween has been scaring people for the last seven years, it has been redesigned this year to feature props and movie sets from the movie Halloween. Slaughterhouse is located in downtown Dallas and features graphic displays that may not be suitable for children.
- Take the Kids to the DFW Elite Toy Museum!
Kids want to have fun at Halloween too, but many of the best haunted houses are far too scary for young children. Instead, kids and auto enthusiasts can visit the DFW Elite Toy Museum where there is a huge collection of automobile-related toys and memorabilia.
- Visit Waxahachie and Check Out Screams!
Screams is an entire theme park of Halloween-related activities, and it’s located only 30 minutes from Dallas. There are things to do for the whole family, including haunted attractions, horror movies, face painting, a monster museum, and fortune tellers. Food and drinks are also available.
- Stroll Through Reindeer Manor Haunted House!
Located just outside Dallas, Reindeer Manor Haunted House has been scaring visitors for 35 years. This year, they have added a new attraction called the Dungeon of Doom. There’s also the 13th Street Morgue, named after an actual morgue that was once operated on the site.
