Karmann and Volkswagen have collaborated on several vehicles, and their most famous joint project, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, has a devoted following.

Recently, Volkswagen announced that it will be buying Karmann’s assets and constructing a new model.  This model will likely use some of Karmann’s tooling.

It’s probable that new model will use some of Karmann’s designs for convertible production.  Volkswagen has not yet made an official announcement about the new model.

If the new Volkswagen and Karmann joint effort is anything like the popular Karmann Ghia, it may be something that will excite fans of VW.

The Karmann Ghia was immensely popular due to its beautiful design and reasonable pricing.  Between 1955 and 1974, over 445,000 Volkswagen Karmann Ghias were produced.  A convertible model was introduced in 1957.

Even after Karmann Ghia production ceased in 1974, the car has remained popular with collectors and classic car fans.  Although it may be some time before the new Volkswagen – Karmann collaboration is revealed, fans can still rent a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in Dallas Fort Worth.

Exotic car rental is a great way to drive your favorite vehicles without the hassle and expense of owning a classic car.  In addition to the usual car expenses of insurance and gas, classic car owners often have to deal with high maintenance bills and finding secure exotic car storage.

Another great option is joining an exotic car club.  These clubs provide an opportunity for classic car fans to drive the car of their dreams.  Car club members purchase points, which they can redeem to drive exotic cars at their convenience.

With credit tight and car sales recovering very slowly, many consumers are choosing alternatives to vehicle ownership.  Whether you want to drive a Lamborghini or a Karmann Ghia, these options can help you make your dreams come true.

Volkswagen’s new model will begin hitting Dallas-Fort Worth new car showroom floors sometime in 2011.  In the meantime, auto enthusiasts can satisfy their longing for style and class by renting a Karmann Ghia.
