Cadillac Escalade Hybrid Gets 20 Miles Per Gallon

Who says American consumers can’t have it all?  Fans of luxury cars will be pleased to note that General Motors hasn’t entirely given up on the idea of the luxurious SUV.  The new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid doesn’t skimp on power or extras, but it gets a decent 20 miles per gallon.

When it comes to extras, the new Escalade hybrid has features many consumers haven’t even thought of.  Sure, it’s got heated and cooled power seats, but it also has heated and cooled cup holders.  It even has retractable power running boards.

While the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid isn’t available in four-wheel drive, it does have sufficient power to tow a trailer and carry a heavy load.  AutoWeek reviewers tested out the vehicle and found it could comfortable carry an incredible amount of cargo and several passengers.

Capable of 332 horsepower, the 6.0-liter V-8 engine is supplemented with an electric motor.  Reviewers commented on the strange whirring sound and sluggish performance of the electric motor, but they were impressed with the performance overall.

With a curb weight of nearly three tons, no one would call the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid a lightweight.  Yet, for many environmentally concerned consumers, 20 miles per gallon may not be sufficient fuel economy.  On the other hand, it’s certainly better than the single digits.

Big hybrid SUVs are all about having you cake and eating it too.  But there is another way to drive the car of your dreams without making a carbon footprint that would intimidate Bigfoot.

Exotic car sharing clubs are a great way to drive your dream car and stay green.  There’s no reason to use a giant SUV or an exotic sports car for your daily commute.  Instead you can drive a fuel-efficient car to work and show off in a Lamborghini on the weekend.

Besides the high gas consumption of some exotic cars, there are other considerations that make exotic car ownership a bit of a hassle.  You’ve got to find a secure exotic car storage facility, save on insurance, and track down a qualified mechanic.

Instead, you can simply rent an exotic vehicle or join a car sharing club to have the best of both worlds:  green daily habits with a dose of fun and luxury.

If you need a big SUV for your daily driving, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is a respectable option starting at just over $85,000.
